I photographed some portraits of Michelle and Starr out at Stony Creek Metropark north of Detroit over the weekend. I think we picked the hottest and most humid day of the year so far to shoot. I though we might melt! They were both good sports as I dragged them down a steep hill and next to a creek with the heat, humidity and bugs. At least we were in the shade. They wanted a nature, forest feel to the images and I think this location worked well. The lighting was simple. The sun as a backlight. One strobe with a shoot through umbrella that I sometimes turned off. And in a few shots a speed light down low to add to the suns backlight effect and a little rim light. This light was also not on for some of the frames. I don’t use many presets in Lightroom and like to keep my post processing simple and minimal most of the time on portraits. But this time I used a preset from Lightroom Killer Tips that Matt Kloskowski created called Fairytail Glow or Wedding Fairytail. I then tweaked the preset to my taste some. It was used on the first 3 images.
